This December Painted Polish gives us a monochrome collection of polishes to celebrate the new year. Black and shades of grey take center stage in the upcoming ‘New Year’s Eve Quartet!’ The shades will be available starting December 12th.
The black of the collection reminds us of the year we’re nearing. Lexi always has a polish with the upcoming year number and this time it’s a darker shade that I personally like a lot. It is described as a midnight black ultra holo with added silver holographic galaxy glitters for that extra sparkle. This polish has so much holo in it! It makes the polish appear less of a pitch black, the shade becomes softer if that can even be said about black 🙂 I did two thin coats of polish + topcoat.
The next shade is described as a nude holographic microglitter mix in a dove grey crelly base. I always find grey shades to be the most difficult to photograph and describe. They tend to change so much depending on the lighting and skit tone that I often struggle to say if it’s a cool-toned shade or a warm toned, etc. I was so sure that this one here is a cool-toned grey but the moment I went outside and looked at my hands I lost my faith about that. In the end all I can say that it is a beautiful grey that took two thin coats to get opaque.
This polish is described as a granite grey crelly base with gunmetal, metallic black, and holographic black glitters. I love the combo of grey and dark glitters a lot but I wish the polish were a bit thinner, somewhere between crelly and jelly. I like glitter and flakie polishes to be on the thinner side, that way they stay airy and «light». This one almost does that for me — just a small step towards jelliness would make it perfect in my opinion. The good news? It takes only two coats to get opaque. Shown with topcoat.
Stamped in Slate
The last polish of this release is described as a one-coat pale grey creme that doubles as a stamping polish opaque over black and white. I love me a good one coater because that’s what I often reach for when I need a manicure and I need it quick. Painted Polish cremes are perfect for that. They do cover in one coat and they also stamp wonderfully (but I don’t have the time or the energy for that these days 😀 )
I really like this release. These are the colours and finishes that I myself would wear. As to my favourites — I’m torn between Countdown Kiss and Stamped in Slate. They both looked absolutely beautiful and didn’t make my skin tone look awful (which I always appreciate in my greys but it doesn’t happen with every shade, sadly). I think I’ll go with a creme this time because it certainly deserves the attention.
