Are you ready for Valentine’s Day? Me neither! 🙂 What about new polishes? Now that’s always exciting no matter the occasion. This January Femme Fatale offers us their Valentines trio which is called Sweet As Candy collection. The shades are inspired by the classic candy hearts that are abundant during the Valentine holiday period. The colour palette is very feminine but with a mix of finishes.

These shades will only be available as a set for one pre-order only between January 7th-12th. They will also be available via stockists.

True Love

The first shade of the trio is described as a sheer base with glowing violet sheen, red iridescent glitter, golden holographic glitters and red-gold-green chrome flakes. The brand says it should be opaque in 3 coats but I was able to get away with 2 because there is a generous amount of flakies in there which hide any possible nail line peeking thorugh. It dries textures so I used top coat to smooth everything out.

Be Sweet

The next shade is described as a demure  pale rose pink with strong lavender tones; this pastel orchid hybrid has a dainty greenish silver glow and is packed with holographic particles. It’s very pretty and soft and I loved it in the bottle and on a swatch stick but I’m too pale for it to rock it on the nails (at least now with my almost mid-January pallor of the skin). I think it would look absolutely amazing on someone whose complexion is deeper, it would be like something ethereal on the tips of the nails. The application was great for me, though. Since the polish is sheer, I did 3 coats and added topcoat to bring out the greenish silver glow.

Kiss Me

The last shade of the trio is described as a mid-tone warm pink crelly base with red metallic glitters in various sizes. This one is too cute! It applies nicely in 2 simple coats but dries textured because of the glitter so I ended up adding topcoat.

COTM and FOTM for January

As usual with the brand, we get two special polishes for January (as well as any other month). COTM, which is their colour of the month, is available for pre-order on the brand’s website and also via stockists. FOTM, which stands for Fiend of the month (thanks to their FB group name) is exclusive to Femme Fatale website.

Neon Bubbles (COTM)

The colour of the month this time is described as a vibrant blurple-blue base with assorted glitters in metallic fuchsia dots, iridescent purple, neon yellow, teal and microfine magenta holo. This is total craziness and I love it! This mix of colours just makes me happy. It has a ton of glitter in it but it was still easy to apply (thanks for not being a glitter mess!). It dries textured so I added topcoat to smooth everything out.

Lionfish (FOTM)

The FOTM is described as a warm, orchid purple crelly filled with purple-blue iridescent glitters and micro pink holographic glitter. The brand says the polish can be slightly thick due to iridescent glitters but I didn’t experience this at all. The orchid base here is amazing! It’s vivid and squishy, absolute catch! The iridescent glitters are pure love for me too — they always look so glowy; that makes every polish that has them seem magical. It dries semi-matte and slightly textured so I opted for a glossy top coat.

This release is certainly small but mighty! All five polishes are very pretty. My favourite from the trio would be either Kiss Me or True Love. As to the colours of the month — it’s illegal to create such beautiful glitters! Please, Femme Fatale, don’t ever stop 🙂
