Hello there! It’s been a while… I should have published this post a couple of months earlier but that didn’t happen as yiu might notice. Various reasons and stuff aside, I still want to show you the Villains collection (*) from Cadillacquer, one of my favourite brands!
This collection is especially exciting for me because there are three collaboration shades and they are mine and I can not be happier about it! I know you have probably seen them all by now but a couple (or twenty) more swatches can’t hurt, right?
I’ll start with my a villain I liked the most when I was a child …
Darling, Red Isn’t Your Color
This one is inspired by Cruella De Vil herself! If you saw the film, you might remember a moment when Cruella is saying that same phrase to a racoon who has just stolen her hat and is wearing it. The way she says it and the way that racoon looks at her! Probably my favourite moment of the entire film!
The polish needs two-three coats for full opacity and can be worn even without topcoat. I wore it in two coats. The first time I tried this polish I was away from home and didn’t have any basecoat or any topcoat. So I ended up wearing 2 coats of Darling alone and it lasted for 5 days without any chipping!
Gentleman of Crime
The inspiration for this polish came from Penguin, a villain from Gotham City and an adversary of Batman. He is a «gentleman of crime» who often wears a monocle, a hat and a tuxedo.
The polish itself needs two to three coats (I used two thicker coats but three thin ones are easier to do so I would go with three). The larger blue glitters were a little bit stubborn so I had to turn it upside down and leave it like that for about ten minutes (it helped). Topcoat is recommended here as it makes the magenta glitters pop more.
Another criminal mastermind here! Well, Gotham City is packed with them so it would be a shame not to be inspired by them 🙂 His favourite thing to do is to use riddles and puzzles for his enemies when plotting his villanous schemes.
Again, this polish is opaque in two or three coats depending on your application. I used two for my pictures (I didn’t have to make them thicker with this shade) and added a topcoat to smooth everything out.
I took my pictures of Riddle after I had been wearing them for a couple of days and I must admit I should stop doing that because those little marks (you can notice them in the macro pic) are driving me crazy now!
Next up is Norman, inspired by Norman Bates from Bates Motel. I hadn’t heard anything about the TV series until this collection came out. According to IMDb it’s a contemporary prequel to Psycho, giving a portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years, and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.
The colour of the polish is quite difficult for me to describe. I thought it would be more on the blue side but it turns more grey once on the nails. I don’t know if it’s my particular skintone that makes that happen or maybe the lack of light that we have in November (everything looks grey now, it seems, haha) but it is what is it.
It has quite more blue to it in the pictures because the lighting set up I use helps a lot here so I have high hopes that it would look amazingly blue in the spring 🙂
Bane is another villain from the Batman comics. According to Wiki Bane is often credited as being the only villain to have «broken the bat» thanks to his strength and exceptional intelligence.
I didn’t pay much attention to this polish even though I really like the character it was inspired by. Everything changed the minute I applied this polish on my nails! It looks so amazing! Somehow you get just the right amount of glitter and the size of those glitters is just perfect and it looks incredibly cool against the black base. Two coats of love.
One more villain for today! The famous Hannibal. It would be a shame not to add him to the list, right? Again, I haven’t seen the TV series with Mads Mikkelsen who plays Hannibal Lecter but I like the actor a lot so I might give it a go.
The polish is a beautiful mix of colours that looks unusual yet so beautiful that it makes you want to wear the shade again and again. I used two thicker coats on my left hand and I did three thin ones on my right. The difference in the depth of the base colour was just slight but doing three thin coats is easier 🙂
I am so happy about the collection! I adore villains and polishes and makeup collections inspired by villains so I am extremeley pleased we got a full set of antiheroes this time 🙂
I also want to thank Madeleine, the owner of the brand, that made my polish dream come true! I still can’t believ I have collaboration shades with my favourite brand! Thank you so much, Madeleine! 🙂
I won’t be picking up any favourites this time as it would be very unfair. The villains have their special place in my heart so I’ll leave it at that.
Thank you for reading!
